Instructions:             Select a character from your novel, probably a main character.

Step 1: Read and take notes on the character.  (Pick up more of these sheets if needed.)

The character’s name: Abby   -- Abigail Beatrice Edmunds

I noticed this about her name:  Beatrice is a spunky, quick-witted character in the Shakespeare play Much Ado About Nothing, and Beatrice is also the woman loved by Dante in The Inferno and his other works.

Don’t forget to include the page numbers where you find the information.

(She is the narrator -- first person narrator)  She's turning seventeen. p. 11-12.

page 42 She's knowledgeable about artsy music.

p. 18 She appreciates the college motto "Live without Limits."

p. 113 She thinks Jason picked the brown dress to match her eyes.

She wants something different for her birthday party, but gives in. page 11.

She can't speak up enough to get everyone's attention at play practice. page 20.

"I never have to worry. . . " page 43

She says, "Jason can be surprising," but it didn't come out convincing. p. 43

She has wanted to be popular -- cute, bubbly.  p. 16

She has big, crazy dreams p. 18 (like her dream about going to Italy with a million dollars)

Notes: Don't worry too much about deciding which box to put a piece of information into if it seems to fit into more than one.  Just put it in a place where it could fit.

How the character feels and what the character wants could go under "What the character thinks."
